Here are a few clips representing a cross section of some of the projects I've worked on, covering a wide range of shooting subjects, styles and conditions. You will need a recent version of Flash to view the videos, but if you got this far, you probably already have it installed. If you have any questions, please e-mail me. How to Lose a Guy
in Ten Days

Ripley's

Beautiful Girl (part 1)

Not only did we get to spend a number of days working on the DVD / EPK for Paramount Pictures on this fun set, we got to participate in an impromptu party between takes, with Marvin Hamlish playing boogie woogie on piano, and the cast joining in.

I needed underwater cameras, a mini crane, and some great tech assistants to adequately tell this incredible woman's story. The Ripley's Believe It Or Not producer's first question to me was always, "What equipment do we need to make this a great story?"

This is one of five or six EPK style pieces shot on the ABC Movie 'Beautiful Girl.' They were used in a very successful campaign to promote the movie in the weeks before airing.

Beautiful Girl (part 2)

TSN Profile:
Courtney Ansell

Rings Of Gold

The fact that ABC's "Beautiful Girl" was a fun picture to work on, is reflected by this promo, which for some reason, never made it to air. Many of the crew, from exec producer to EPK crew, (that's soundman Brent Robichaud and me singing together near the end) provided personal renditions of the theme song with heart and soul.

This is a TSN profile on Special Olympic challenger, Courtney Ansell. Shown here singing, and going through her daily routine, we are reminded by this piece of the depth of character of some of these so called challenged people.

It was a privilege to work on Rings Of Gold, a documentary about Canada's Olympic Gold Medal Women's Hockey Team. Very refreshing, after doing locker room interviews with the jaded NHL professional teams. This sequence illustrates the bonding that is so important to create a team effort.

Fly Away Home

A & E Biography
Jim Carrey

EcoChallenge

I was lucky enough to work on a Discovery Channel documentary about Bill Lishman as well as the making of Fly Away Home, a movie based on his life, for Sony/ Columbia/ Tri-Star and Entertainment Tonight.

I shot the Canadian content for this show. We learned a lot about what makes Jim tick from friends and members of his family. Working on biographies is one of the more fascinating aspects of this job.

I shot this profile documentary on Canadian Olympian, Marty McBean in the middle of the making of an ECO Challenge TV show. One thing to remember when you watch this kind of program is that there was a cameraperson there, with gear and all, shooting in the same hostile environment the contestants are battling.

Discovery Channel
Animal Tracks

Mt. Sinai Hospital
News Release

FedEx
YYZR

In the Arizona desert, with the 11AM temperature at 100 F, we were happy to have started this documentary at five in the morning. This story about desert turtles with radio receivers, was one of three I worked on in a swing across the US Southwest for Discovery Channel.

It was great working on this good news story for this world class hospital. This clip dramatically shows the 'before' site of a new state of the art research wing.

A beautifully edited corporate piece for FedEx on an extraordinary place. It is always a challenge illustrate the complexities of a place like this, when so much is hidden from view.

Alarm Business Software
Promo Video

Business TV
Zebra Graphics

Bankers Association
Breaking the Link

This is an eye catching approach to what ultimately is a humdrum subject. We had fairly high production values, with a lipstick camera, a camera dolly and time for some nifty lighting.

This was a great shoot not only because of the graphic nature of the visuals, but the clients from Zebra were totally enthusiastic about the shooting and style, contributing ideas and getting involved.

With high production values and some excellent writing, this video about money laundering passes on valuable information to the banking community by telling a story along the line of Investigative Reports.

Playa Del Augua
Stock Promotion

Darlington Nuclear Plant
Industrial Video

National Film Board (CDA)
Dream Machine

A unique and successful approach to a stock offering for a resort in Venezuela. We flew down and shot the beach, the people, and the town. This gave potential investors a first hand look at just what the investment was all about. You just can't lose with palm trees!

We shot for about 45 days on this "constructibility" industrial video for Ontario Hydro. My camera and I covered every aspect of this super nuclear station, from the helicopter shot high over head to the very centre of the "colandria" where the reaction takes place.

A documentary about the packaging of talent and people for the "dream making machinery behind the popular song."
